Don't go through the national 800 reservation system, they rarely have local special rates on file. Turnover tends to be high among national chain hotel management. We have had special rates at many hotels in the past, and after a management change, they may no longer be available. On the positive side, many hotels are running their own weekend specials. If you just ask, many times they will give you a special discount, just to fill the hotel for the weekend, which is usually their slowest time of the week.
